The NUS Alumni Network Manila (NUS Manila) hosted a refreshing and inspiring event on April 5, 2025, bringing together alumni for an afternoon of creativity and connection through basic photography and mobile imaging.
Held at the stylish Leica Store Philippines in Greenbelt 5, Makati, the workshop was titled “See the World, Snap the Future”, and welcomed a diverse group of photography beginners and hobbyists. It featured a hands-on learning session led by Jojo Gloria, Product Specialist and Consultant at Leica Philippines, who introduced participants to essential photography techniques—from composition and lighting to mobile optimization and creative storytelling.
What made the event even more special was the warm fellowship that unfolded during the session. Participants introduced themselves personally, creating a sense of shared space and discovery. Attendees represented a wide cross-section of NUS schools and programs, including alumni from Business, Design and Environment, Engineering, Law, Public Health, FASS, Yale-NUS, and Public Policy.
The event was also graced by esteemed landscape architect Paulo Alcazaren, a celebrated figure in urban design and heritage conservation, and Singapore Deputy Ambassador to the Philippines, Logaventhan Karuppannan, who lent strong support to the growing creative and cultural initiatives of NUS Manila.
After the photography session, participants enjoyed light refreshments and casual networking, exploring Leica’s impressive product lineup and continuing conversations about photography, travel, and shared NUS experiences. There was palpable excitement around the idea of continuing these creative connections, and conversations were initiated to organize a photowalk and campus tour for the NUS120 celebration involving the Philippine delegation.
With over 800 NUS alumni in the Philippines, NUS Manila continues to build meaningful engagements through innovative, inclusive events that foster personal growth, professional connection, and cultural exchange.
Stay tuned for more alumni gatherings and creative collaborations!
